We set the alarm to wake us up at 6am. We got picked up at 7am by a minibus. The driver took us to a coconut factory and briefly talked about what they produce from coconuts. The next stop was 'The Floating Market', this was a market with locals on boats selling fruits, vegetables and hot food on the river. We walked along the river, it was very busy with lots of tourists. We bought some fruits to try: mango, jackfruit and mangosteen. They were fresh and tasty. Whilst eating some jackfruit, we got talking to a couple from Switzerland who were stopping over Bangkok to go New Zealand.
For the last part of the 'Floating Market' excursion, we went on a boat tour around the 'Floating Village', this was very scenic and picturesque.
When we finished the Floating Market tour, we got dropped off at Khaosan Road, we then walked to 'Popiang House' to have lunch. Jay had chicken noodle soup and a bottle of Chang. Helen had beef noodle soup, our lunch meal was tasty.
As Jay needed wifi to download the email confirmation onto his iphone for the accommodation in Chiang Mai, we went to 'The greenhouse' bar and restaurant which had free wifi. We also had dinner here, Jay had chicken and cashew nuts with rice and two bottles of Leo. Helen had toasted baguette with feta cheese and an ice lemon tea. Our meals were delicious.
After dinner, we walked back to our accommodation, we were picked up at 5.50pm for Chiang Mai. They walked us to the bus stop where we waited for a while for the bus.
The bus arrived on time at 7pm to start our journey to Chiang Mai. The bus was not as comfortable as the bus to Bangkok because the seats did not fully recline but it was still spacious. Helen struggled to sleep whilst Jay had some sleep.
