Helen and Dean - Choice, Bro.
Hello There!
Its been a while since our last postcard as we have been pretty busy doing stuff and not been around a computer for a while, so here is a quick round up of what we have been up to...
We did our trip on the yacht aruond the whitsunday islands. It was super good fun! The first day on the boat was nice - we did some swimming and general hangout out and helping sail the boat. We also met some nice people on the boat which was cool. The second day was much more choppy - it was big waves and very windy! So it was a really exciting ride back to ther mainland!
From there we headed outback a bit to Eungulla National Park where we did some bush camping and got to see a platapus which was nice! They are surprisingly small, we thought!
Then it was on to Frasier Island which is a big sand island just off the cost of QLD. Its rain forest filled + there are fresh water lakes + creeks to swim in.
Next stop was Brisbane for a few days. We checked out the city and the botanic gardens and had a few beers in the evening in Fortitude Valley (very trendy!). We also went to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary which was great! We got to hold a koala (they are very cute!), feed some roos and we also saw a sheep dog display which was good fun!
Then we went to Byron Bay. Its a really cool surfy town. Surfing there was excellent because the water is so warm you dont need a wet suit. Its also so clear + the beach is excellent - lots of palm trees and sand dunes so that was good. The waves were not actually that big, however this was probably a good thing!
From Byron Bay we headed to the Waterfall Way. This is a collection of world heritage national parks just below the boarder of NSW. We did lots of hiking and looking at waterfalls. It was great!
From there we headed to Katoomba, where we are now (via central Sydney - we got lost!!!!) Katoomba is in the Blue Mountains, just west of Sydney. It really has some beautiful scenary. Today we have been hiking around the mountains for a few hours. It has been an excellent day.
Tomorrow was head into Sydney to return the car and have a look around there then on Monday we fly to New Zealand. We are really looking forward to that. Although it will be sad to leave Aus - we have had an amazing time here and its gone really fast! (I cant believe we have been here 10 weeks!!!)
Hope you are all doing well whatever you are up to at the moment - please feel free to leave us a message tyo say hello or drop us an email!
Take care,
Cheers,
Dean and Helen
Ps - i am going to try to put up some pics of the above in a moment so maybe (if it works!) you might like to check them out too.
