Well we finally arrived in The Cameron Highlands on Saturday 28th April. It took around 7hours by mini bus up a mountain which is 1500 metres above sea level..so we had a lovely bendy trip up. We read in the book about it that it gets cool in the evening...wow when we arrived i really thought we were back in Ireland!! Covered with green fields, forests, hills, farms, and raining!! Home Sweet HOme!!
Our hostel is up on a hill which has great views and its really homely. We booked a countryside tour for the following morning. Its really busy here as its bank holiday and all the local people travel up here to cool down..i really want sunshine.
Had our trip yesterday which was really nice and interesting. Our first stop was a chinese temple,we had a look around and we were also allowed to go in and take some photos. There were huge gold statues in which people were worshiping. The next stop was a rose centre full of flowers and cactus and nice waterfalls. Then we went to the Butterfly Farm in which we got a tour around all the insects and Butterflies. There were cobra snakes,Scorpions,Horn Beatles,Millipeads and lovely colorful tropical butterflies...Brave Heidi even got to hold a huge black 9inch Scorpion in her hand!!!She then also got to wear a very long millipead around her wrist!!no thanks not for me!
After that we went to the strawberry farm where we sampled real strawberry and rasberry jam and aslo a delicious strawberry milkshake.Yum!From here we went to tea plantation which was very interesting..first we passed all the workers houses that are located on the plantation...about 500people work there. we could see many of them in the distance picking the tea leaves. We got a tour around the tea factory to see the different stages of the tea process..and finally we got to sample a cup of first class BOH tea! Best Of Highlands! From here our last stop was a Bee farm in where we got to try some fresh honey and saw how it was made. A nice pleasant trip.
We are now relaxing here until tuesday morning where our travels will then be taken us to the east coast of The Perhentian Islands in which we are staying in Deluxe chalet on the beach...time to recharge
