For our second time back to Krabi we decided to stay in the same place as the first, sometimes you just have to stick with what you know!
It was a nice, clean place with good standards and good food! The staff were really friendly too and remembered us from the first time!
They asked us "How long is your holiday this time?"
They thought we'd come to Krabi last year! lol, not quite, only back in January ;-) We told them it was part of the same trip!
So we spent a while there, enjoying the lovely rain and the cool bars.
We went to an awesome bar called JOY which we almost didn't go in, because it looked very local... the barman saw us looking outside and beckoned us to go in.So we did and had a really cool evening sharing rum and coke and watching a local Thai band perform catchy music.
A Thai guy across the room also randomly asked us if we wanted a glass of his Whiskey! Just wouldn't happen back home!
Back at our guesthouse we tried some of the best Thai food...
Tom Yum Soup, Green Curry, Massaman Curry (Luke's favourite...mine's the green! :-P) and spring rolls.
We also went to the bar (which was in a hotel)next door quite a bit, and got to know the guy who worked there quite well...an older Thai guy who was really funny! He kept telling us how hard it can be to understand some accents from the UK...especially Scottish! haha. He said Welsh wasn't so bad.
He recommended (lecommended!) we do some cooking courses while we're over here, which we might do if we have time. Would be nice to bring the Thai techniques back home!
We went out for Luke's birthday, had a few buckets of Sangsom and played Jenga and Connect 4 with a Thai barman (not for drinks this time though...just for fun!) and were talking to him and his friend most of the evening, his friend worked in the bar opposite which we went in when we left there... and there was a Thai band playing and they sang happy birthday to Luke! They also brought him out some ice cream as a birthday treat (WHAT A TREAT!!!!!)
I bought Luke some sweets and deodorant for his bday (what do you get someone you are travelling with as a birthday present?? I knew he was running out of deodorant so thought of the practical thing, then I remembered how much he likes to eat so got him some sweets...I also bought him a buddha to go on his chain of travelling things he wears around his neck. lol and a wristband that says "<3 Thailand" to go with the welsh ones we bought when we thought it'd be funny to copy Checkie and Chris! ;-))
We had a day trip to Phi Phi, we couldn't go on Luke's birthday as the weather was so bad, so we waited for the weather to clear up and went then. It was good but the only disappointment was we didn't get to go to Maya Bay!:-( We both wanted to see this so badly as the beach was filmed here. Oh well, atleast we got to see Monkey Bay,Phi Phi Leh (the lagoon), Phi Phi Don, and kinda went past Maya Bay.
Overall we loved Krabi and had a better time there the second time than the first! We've booked an overnight trip to Bangkok to spend another few days there to get our Visa sorted for Vietnam, and visit Ayutthaya, the old capital, which apparently has amazing temples.
Love Liz & Luke xxx
