Thanks to some technical difficulties (*cough* I'm looking at YOU STA! *cough*) we now have a bit of a backlog of blog updates to do.
I could easily put this all into one novel-like blog for you to read, but due to our OCD's of liking it to be all seperated - one blog per place, you're going to have the pure fun of re-clicking each one and waiting for it to load.Yay.
It's called organisation. Something I never used to possess and am quite shocked myself that I'm doing this.
Anyway...lets take a trip down memory lane....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way back to the 9th June.
I know, AGES ago right?
We arrived in Laos. Lovely Laos.
Laos was a very last minute descision for us, as we didn't know much about it nor even know if we wanted to go there. But why not give somewhere a chance? And I'm glad we did. It was absolutely beautiful!
The scenery is like nothing I've seen...stunning!
That's what I like about South East Asia, each place is individual in it's own way. I can safely say that the difference between Thailand, Cambodia and Laos as countries and cultures is very noticeable and I like that.
Some people have said to us "oh why bother with Laos, it's just pretty much like Thailand!"
No,it's not. It's different.
We arrived in Vientiane, the capital after an overnight journey from Bangkok. We took a VIP bus which I'm not sure was actually a VIP bus, unless they've got a bit stingy since 6 months ago :-/
The first time we took one we had big comfortable seats, free snacks, water and pepsi and a free meal voucher! This time we didn't get that. The bus was ok though, not the worst we've travelled on...the only thing with travelling by bus is it's always so hard to sleep.
On the bus we got talking to a couple from California...Jeff & Tiffany!
When we got into Vientiane we decided to all get a TukTuk to take us to guesthouses and decided on which one we wanted to stay in. Turns out the TukTuk drove around a bit and took us just around the corner...Doh. Asia, you and your scams!
We went for food with them, and on a little tour of the city where we got dropped off to see a few temples, a very l'arch de triomphe looking ...arch, which was beautiful. And we got a few drinks and ice creams from local ice cream sellers who were pedalling around on bike with a big ice cream box and umbrella attatched to it playing your traditional ice cream music to go with it.Lol.
Luke bought some amazing ice cream from a very cool elderly Lao man, who was fluent in English and French...and even gave him a free blob of green sweet sticky rice on top of his ice cream. What a TREAT! ;-) lol.
He was seriously a really lovely guy though, pleasure to have met him!
So,after that we headed back to our hotel and crashed due to being exhausted from travelling...we didn't see Jeff and Tiffany after that, I think they did the same and left the next day! lol! Oh well, it happens...people always leave when you're travelling ;-)
We stayed another night in Vientiane and decided to move on to Vang Vieng, which we heard was a bit more touristy.
So...click on the Vang Vieng entry to read more! Mwaha! xxx
