We've had a couple of interesting days here on the mountain, yesterday we hung the new curtains - as they were too long I cut and hemmed them by hand which was quite a job but enjoyable. Mili decided to make cushion covers from the remnants, one side of one cushion sewn, not sure if they will ever get finished though as her iPad seems to take preference over any other activity. Apart from that we had a quiet day which we enjoyed. There was some rain and storm activity around the mountain. Sonia cooked pork steaks and salad for dinner which was delicious, the tomatoes from Zio's garden are so beautiful we eat them every meal. At around 11:45 I awoke to loud noises, the village had a fireworks display to end the day which is Ferrogosto, a big day for families in Italy. I was too sleepy to get up but Mili woke Sonia up as she was scared and they went outside to watch.
Today is Sunday so we headed off to Vallo Della Lucania to the markets, a 30 minute drive. We had a good look around and Sonia and Mili bought some things, then an enormous storm arrived with torrential rain. The poor sellers quickly covered or moved their goods but it went on and on so most of them closed up. We got wet running for shelter and when it stopped a bit we ran to a coffee shop and had a cappuccino. The rain finally stopped but it had spoiled the day and the sellers packed up. We made a quick stop at the supermarket and stocked up with some items. We drove back to the village and had a quiet afternoon. More torrential rain. I made Arancini for dinner which are rice balls with mozzarella in the centre, crumbed and fried. They were really nice and we had them with lettuce and tomato salad and some octopus salad from the supermarket. After dinner we sat down and watched Kate and Leopold - a nice movie. I packed for my trip tomorrow. First stop Naples then I fly to Paris.
