Well Damn... this is the THIRD time i have written this stinking blog!!! The first time it was lost in the power outage (i will talk about that later) and the second time it apparently didnt post... so here we go AGAIN... (hopefully i can write what i said last time...)
So going to see the Vatican was completely amazing... definitely worth the extra stay in the hell that rome was. We took a TON of pictures and though we werent supposed to (noticing that a lot in EU) we got some shots of the Sistene Chapel that i think are really cool. Then we went to San Pietros Bascilila which was also just beautiful. We got kicked out because they were getting ready to have mass (no it wasnt actually our fault) but we still got to see it and get some good pictures. It truely was worth the stay... then we went over to the Collosseum and toured that and Palentine Hill. I wasnt really familliar with Palentine Hill but it was included in the ticket and tour of the colloussem so we did it. The collusseum was alright... it was a little bit boring because it was mostly the same thing so once you see one part of it the rest is basically the same. The tour guide gave us some great information which was nice. Learned where everyone sat and how everything worked. It was pretty cool and to think of how long that thing had been standing... it was unimaginable. But then... Palentine Hill. It was the ruins of an old emporers palace (which came from the word Palentine...interesting fun fact...) and it was just amazing!! we went on the tour through that and saw where Julius Cesar was killed and i just couldnt beleive epeople actually walked through where i was standing!! And Lived there!! i just couldnt beleive it. And there was a lot of original structures standing and still original marble in places! it was just gorgeous! i took a TON of pictures of that!! it was really cool and interesting.
Then once we made it back to the hostel we tried to book another hostel in Venice but there was NOTHING available... not even anything that we thought was too expensive!!!! Literally nothing... so guess where we were for ANOTHER (and 5th) night... ROME!!! you guessed it... Man i was so over that place it wasnt even funny!! Maybe we were in the wrong part or something, i dont know... Well we took the early train out to Venice the next morning and it was Just amazing! It was everything that i had imagined the city could be!!! It was so beautiful and all the boats and stuff were so great!! i loved it soooo much! I am DEFINITELY going back!! The first day we were there we dropped our bacgs at the hostel, which was actually a camp ground. (ya we camped in a tent which was SUPER fun!) Then we went back into the city and ate some good food and walked around doing a little shopping. I just loved it. There was so much blown glass that was ALL hand made and the masks for the Carnivalle were so AMAZING!! Even though most of the shops had the same things it was like they were all different because they were hand made... and because nothing was like the last one you looked at you never got sick of looking. It ws great. Then we went back to our campsite which was about 30 minutes on a private shuttle out of town. It was pretty nice! It had showers, real bathrooms (i have yet to use the hole i heard so much about), laundry facilities, a swimming pool, a market, a bar and a resturant and it was huge!! We got a 2 bed house tent which was a tent with a raised wooden floor and 2 bed/cots in it. It was actually pretty great... probably my favorite place we stayed so far! When we got back we were going to head to the bar for happy hour but we were stopped and told we couldnt come in unless we had Togas... ya there was a Toga party and it was pretty fun! It was funny to see everyone wrapped in their bedsheets hanging out. Some people got pretty into it and others were a bit... interesting... ya lets go with interesting... but nonetheless it was a blast. After we woke up and got ready we realized we missed the last bus into town for a couple hours which was actually probably a blessing in disguise. We went into the interent cafe there (ya they had one of those too) and started to post blogs when all of a sundden BLAM!!! HUGE storm! It was insane!! There was sthunder and lightning and so much rain and HAIL!... Yes hail... it was weird!!! the windows looked like someone was shotting a hose at them it was raining so hard... then while in the middle of this blog the first time the power zapped out. it was a real bummer! so we all waited around and eventually it came back on. We were kind of glad we werent on our way into thee city... i mean, storm + sea + city on the water = bad news. so we waited it out and when it cleared up the bus came and we went into the city for the rest of our day. That too was great! We went into San Marcos square and Dani fed the rats with wings... i am not a fan of birds as some of you well know, but to see Dani feeding these pigeons was pretty funny. I think i was more worried about having my head taken off than getting pooped on... These birds were ruthless... but still it was funny. i CERTAINLY did not feed them... i was anxious to get out of there ASAP but watching her was good fun. Then we went walking around the little open market thingy (just a row with a bunch of vendors carts and shops) and bought a few small things. Bartering skills were not usefull here but it wasnt really expensive so it wasnt a big deal. then we had our last Gelato and headed back through the not straight streets back to the train station... we were heading the right way until we walked through an alley (or maybe it was a street... they all looked like alleys and were windy and perpendicularly intercepted eachother... wwalking through there really was like being in a corn maze...minus the corn of course) and then... we were RIGHT back where we started... literally the very point... so we opted for the water metro system which actually turned out to be the better choice. We got to see more of the city and it was great! i took some pitcurtes. Then once we funally made it to the station we got food and then it was off to Munich... =)
I am going to write about that on a new one because on the map on my front poage you can see one big stream line of the places i have been if you click on it.
Ok... see you there... Love you guys! =)
