Alright... i am not having much luck with this stupid posting thing... this is the 2nd time i will attempt to post this one... it better work... lol
Anyway, Antwerpen was gerat! My moms lovely friends picked us up from the train station and took us all over the place! Chantal was so cute because she was so excited to have us there that she even printed out a paper that had information about various buildings in their town on it so she could give us some history! it was adorable! And while we were there there was a festival or something going on and people were dressed up in traditional clothes ... it was funny! we took a picture. HA! After walking around the city center we found some great italian food.. who would have guessed that to get some decent spaghetti you had to go to BELGIUM!!!??? didnt make sense to me but oh well... and Dani had this 10 cheeze pizza!! It was incredible!! it was sooo good too!!! =) Then after that we went to this old prison on the stream (which was actually more like a river... dani and i laughed when they called it a stream) and it looked like a castle!! it was amazing! and so beautiful! After that Marc and Chatal insisted that we try this sweet treat that i forgot the name of. It was at a booth called "Not hot Not want." that is the english translation of course... i dont remember the flemish words but it was funny! And that treat ended up being like a funnel cake but in ball form! it was SOOO yummy!!! then after we had that we stopped at a little place that serves jenneva (SP?). Apparently its like straight gin but in super yummy flavors! They served it in a shot glass and you were supposed to just sip on it. It was incredible! i got passion fruit and Chantal said that that stuff would get you carried home (in an ambulance Marc commented) which after tasting it we KNEW would be completely true! then after that we headed back to their lovely home. It was very cute and cozy! Nice change from the hostel i must say. While i love being in the hostels and meeting people nothing beats the feel of local love. =) and their son, Glen, "generously" gave up his room and slept on the couch (i use quotes because i am not sure that he knew he was doing it until ge got home! HA!)! And Chantal INSISTED on doing our laundry (aparently the backpacker smell wasnt enjoyable...lol) which was amazing as my light denim jeans were starting to look a bit tan colored... yuck! When we woke up in the morning we got to eat these croissant things that had chocolate in the middle accompanied by ice cold milk!... they were SOOO good then chantals mother took us to the train station where we headed to brussels for the day... and away we go!
(thank you Marc, Chantal, and Glen! We appreciated everything you did for us! our time in Antwerpen was amazing!)
