Finally managing to escape Bali was a relief to both Edward and myself. We decided to take a speed boat across to Lombok from Bali..... It seemed like a good idea at the time. Ed was soon to inform me that he had read an article about how many of the speed boats have had accidents and sunk! Great cheers Ed ;0) so with the many other tourist we climbed aboard the speed boat, our crossing was relatively smooth and took about 1 hour 30.
We climbed off the boat onto a small harbour on Lombok, we had a rough idea of how much a taxi should cost so when a local guy came over and tried to charge us 10 times the amount Ed starting talking to him indoniseian. Edward was telling him that the cost was too expensive, to which the guy got a bit nasty and started informing us this wasn't like other parts of indoniseia and that was the price .... There were a few explicit words in there also. What a great way to start I already wanted to get off the island. Calm and collected Ed walked away and found us a local taxi for a quarter of the price thank god. Travelling along the coastal road the views were breath taking and the roads were empty apart from the odd goat or cow. We spent a few days in sengiggi mainly booking our boat to the gili islands, the town had become a ghost town since the Fast boats have been introduced very few tourists seemed to make the stop over in Lombok, most tourists get a speed boat straight to the gili islands. Which is sad due to how pretty it is. Like I said after a few days we moved on again and were heading for gili air.......... Let the fun begin Or should I say let the beach parties begin ;0)
