Hi everyone.

Things didn't really get any better for us on day 2 of New Zealand. Got up early on Friday and had breakfast then we were waiting to be picked up for our Milford Sounds trip and we got a phone call to say that it had been cancelled due to bad weather! There was a possibility we might be able to go in the afternoon but we wouldn't know until 1pm when they got the weather report.

We decided to take the bikes out and go around the cycle track that ran along side Lake Watatipu. The track was nice and easy and you could see some lovely views across the lake of Queenstown. By the time we got back to The Diary it was midday so we decided to wait around until 1pm and see what the verdict was on Milford Sounds, unfortunately the weather still hadn't improved so that was that. we were all pretty disappointed as it is suppose to be spectacular.

In the afternoon we decided to drive to Glenorchy, Lord of the Rings country. It was a fantastic drive with Lake Wakatipu on one side and mountains on the other, and the sun was shining. Picked up a picnic from a Mediterranean market and ate outside because it was so warm, hard to believe not very far away in Milford Sounds the weather could be so different.

In the evening we went to a lovely little French restaurant in Queenstown for dinner. It was halloween so everyone was walking around in costume. Had a nice meal and then came back to the lodge and sat by the fire/
