Wednesday 13th April
So this morning we had to be up at 6 to take pictures of Kickers Rock. I was still so tired and Joe was very grumpy from the medication! At 7 we had breakfast then went onto Lobos Island; tiny, rocky island where we did a 300m trail (our guide had told us we could do the trail in flip flops but when we got there we should've had trainers on, I kept slipping over!) here we saw blue footed boobies, lava lizards (the most commonly seen reptile, they can reach 30cms on length and feed on insects) and sea lions. We then had time to do some snorkelling from the pier; there wasn't a lot to see while snorkelling but the sea lions were swimming around us!
Back on board we had lunch and sailed to San Cristobal; capital island of the Galapagos; the 5th largest island in the archipelago and has the second largest population (approx 6,500)
When we arrived onto the pier there were sea lions sitting on the benches! We then walked up to an interpretation centre where we learnt the history and significance of the Galapagos. Then we had some free time on the island so we went for a few drinks and a wander around the shops!
Back on board a couple had bought a bottle of rum so after a few drinks, dinner and our briefing we had the chance to go back on land for a few hours. Joe went to bed so I headed over with some others from the group for a few drinks as 5 of our group were leaving tomorrow :-(
Back on board and another terrible night, we set sail about 11 and it was the roughest yet, Joe was fine with seasickness but neither of us could sleep properly, something was going on with the boat...!
