Monday 16th May
We checked out and had breakfast before getting a taxi from Argentina to Brazil! Ha! Sounds funny but it was only a 10 min drive to the boarder and it was the easiest boarder crossing we didn't even have to get out the taxi as the driver did it all through his window!
We were dropped at the bus station where we booked our bus to Florianopolis for 8.30pm, left our luggage and got a bus to the Brazilian side of the falls (Igassu)
The Brazilian side is a lot smaller than the Arg but you get a great panoramic view and the sun was shining so there were some beautiful rainbows! We only spent a couple of hours here. Joe was also surrounded by Coatis again here but this time there were loads more!
We grabbed some lunch here and already began to see how expensive Brazil is! £7 for a chicken burger with chips and a drink!
After the falls we got the bus back into the town centre which is a lot bigger than the Arg side. We wondered round had a few drinks and got a taxi to the 3 boarder area where you could see Argentina and Paraguay!
Then back at the bus station we had some dinner (served in metal bowls which felt and tasted like prison food!) the bus finally arrived an hour late and we realised what everyone had been telling us about Brazilian buses - expensive and uncomfortable! We were next to the loo so it stank and the air-con was on so it was freezing! (you don't get pillows and blankets on Brazilian buses!) we stopped at 1.30am for dinner but we stayed on the bus. We were then woken by police on the bus searching random bags and asking us where we were from!
We eventually arrived in Florianopolis (Tuesday) after the 12hr bus ride turned into 16hrs! We got in a taxi which drove about 30 mins to our hostel - except it was the wrong hostel so we had to wait ages for a bus to take us to our hostel. The bus then told us to get off at the wrong place so we ended up having to walk up a steep hill!
We did finally arrive and checked in - we decided to check out flights to Rio as we dudnt think we could cope with another 20hr bus like the one we'd just done! We found flights cheaper than the bus and only 1.5hrs to Rio!
We had dinner (yummy chicken, rice, salad and potato salad) had a few drinks and went down the beach sitting round a bonfire with a full moon!
