We got to Phuket airport and watched Due Date (hilarious!), and Source Code (amazing) on the lappy. And as we were planning on sleeping in the airport but weren't really allowed to,vwe had to find somewhere secret. We found a flight of stairs that led up to an old muslim prayer room and all the lights were off so we tried to sleep at the bottom of the stairwell on the cold hard floor and it was awful. I managed 2 hours but Dom didn't get any sleep at all! And then we've been exploring singapore all day today so we are SO TIRED!
We arrived at our hostel after getting lost ugh, and its so awful hahaha! We're sharing a dorm with 10 other people, the room has no windows and it's about the same size as my room at home, just with bunk beds crammed in! I'm half under a weird archway thing at one end, and Dom's opposite me. We've both got top bunks so it might be quite hilare to wave at each other across the way!
But yeah the room has no windows, it's sooo dark and hot. we've got one toilet between the whole hostel, not just the 10 in our room but everyone! And a row of 3 showers that are the most disgusting things ever, but I suppose beggers can't be choosers and we are definitely beggers in this city. Everyone is so rich here! Dom's currently playing fifa on the xbox which is out in the bit for everyone to hang in, and I'm sat next to him typing this! So we're happy. Although as soon as we arrived we said 'lets book a hotel for the next 2 nights!' with a private room and a private bathroom! We're getting a bit picky since being treated like royalty in Thailand.
Apart from the hostel, Singapore is INCREDIBLE! Honestly, we were walking around and we were like are we dreaming? All the buildings and architecture is so amazing and look like massive shells and things. We went to find Raffles Hotel first of all as we've heard it's a must-see but we were a bit let down really as at first we couldn't really tell which building it was, and it wasn't anything too special! But later we were walking towards the big ferris wheel and stumbled across that famous building with the three towers and the boat on top! It's called Sands Skypark and its sooooo tall!
We snuck in and got the lift up as high as we could but it said we needed a card to get up to the top, so we found a doorway that was for the staff and had stairs going up so we started climbing, and got to floor 55 but it was just like a white landing, but we found another lift through a corridor and kept pressing the button but the doors wouldn't open. We kept hearing people walking about and we were so scared but it was hilare! And then a man who worked there came out of the lift! And we were like how do we get to the top, were lost! Acting all innocent haha, and he took us back to the lift and pressed floor 57, and when the doors opened we found ourselves faced with all the chefs in the kitchen of the hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahahaha it was SO HILARE! And we were like ohh how did we manage this, ohh we're so silly hahahaha then we went down and paid to go up to the top :( but it was so amazing. Dom was sooo scared but i was loving life! The boat on top like jutts over one end and is just hovering in the air and we stood on the edge!! And the floor was creaking! So glad we did it.
Not looking forward to our night in this hostel tonight but we have booked somewhere else for the next 2 nights. Planning on going to the zoo and doing the night safari tomorrow, excitinggg! xxxx
The next day we arrived at the new hotel, after getting a bit lost again and almost dying in the heat with our big bags dragging us down. It's a bit basic and small but a definite upgrade from the dorm.
We went to Singapore zoo, which was so gorgeous! The animals aren't in cages and they're all free to roam about in their own sections, it's so lovely! And all the monkeys are free to swing in the trees throughout the whole zoo! We got a million pictures of all the animals.
Also Dom went to the toilet near the restaurant and I was waiting outside, and an orangutan came along with its baby clinging onto it! And a zookeeper was trying to get hold of them, but the orangutan went into the ladies toilets hahaha, it was so surreal and hilare! and the zookeeper couldnt go in because it was the ladies, but I went in and was just watching and she climbed over the wall!!!! So the man ran round the outside but we don't know what happened in the end. We were just glad we were near the toilets when it happened because we could have missed that shenanigan!
Some of the animals were so gorgeous, especially the tigers and cheetahs. We loved them all! We went to a 'splash show' which is just a sea lion doing tricks and things, and it was quite good! The seal kept clapping, and it balanced a ball on its nose and was spinning its whole body round on the floor at the same time! And at one point the presenter man said he wanted a man and a lady to go down to the front to play a game, and he pointed at a girl who started to make her way down. But at the same time an indian man sitting directly in front of her got up as well and started walking down!! He didn't know what was going on, and the man had already chosen another man for the game. So the presenter, the man the lady, and this indian man were standing down at the front and everyone was laughing but he didn't realise what was happening, and his wife got up and walked down to the front and just got him by the hand and led him back to his seat! It was soooooooooo funny! And the presenter was like 'errr okay you can be my special guest. Stand to the side so everyone can see how beautiful you are!' hahaha.
We got some noodles from the 7/11, some SALT AND VINEGAR CRISPS!!!! which are so rare here, and some gorgeous cookies. oh and some tropical skittles which were gorge. We crossed over to the Night Safari, where we had a bit of time to kill before we could go in, but there was plenty to see and do. Once we were in the queue, as we had done so much walking around in the zoo Dom sat down, and everyone was looking at him like he'd just commit a crime, so I sat down too and the man in front of us in the queue sat down too! so ha!
We went in and got on our giraffe patterned tram, and had a tour guide with the weirdest voice. It was like american/australian/singaporean accent all in one! We loved it. And got to see all the animals that come out at night, which was really cool and so unique as I don't think any other zoo does this! And sometimes all these animals are asleep when you look around in the day. So that was really good!
The next day we did some exploring on the Singapore version of the tube which has air con, so we spent as much time as poss on it! We went to Orchard Road where all the big shops are like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Armani, Gucci etc...it was so cool, and we went into Chanel!! They had some beautiful sandals that were black, with one white bow and one black bow on the front, and a gold Chanel logo on the side. But they were worth over £600!
We went to Bukit Timah Road where my Granny and Grandad met about 60 years ago! We couldn't really have a good look though as there was a lot of roadworks going on and we couldn't see much, but I got a picture of the road sign and I felt all nice that I'd been there where they first met!
We went to Little India and Chinatown, which were a bit of a letdown as they weren't as Indian and Chinese as we were hoping! But we found a Chinese restaurant that had Crispy Rectum on the menu! Delish. And Little India smelt of gorgeous incense so it was quite nice. Went back to the hostel and the next day caught the coach to Kuala Lumpur, swapping over at Johor Bahru...xxxx
