Today I do the blog so here we go. We arrived in KL after another bus journey that was meant to take 5hours ended up taking closer to seven with an added change of bus we had no idea about. As we entered the city there was only one visible thing that stood out and they were the huge Petronas towers which towered over every other building.
Off the bus we realised the humidity and it was as sweaty as Bangkok was and seemed alot more hustle bustle. We finally arrived at our hostel via my hand drawn map I made in Singapore. It was abit grotty and not out best but the little Indian lady running it was like 'a mother figure' so she made up for the room and toilet/shower room.
After a quick shower we headed into China town (Petaling street) which was on our doorstep, it was very vibrant and compared to the dissapointment of the Singapore one it was on another level. All the fakeness and cheap food you could wish for, especially bags if your Hayley Haskins! We looked around for food and stumbled across good old nando's and we couldn't say no. We headed back to catch up on some sleep and plan the next day.
Once up we took the tubey train thing to Sentral, KL's main train station and inquired about a train to Bangkok but due to huge waiting times we thought it would be better to book a flight. As we were nearby we took a walk in a park, its was very picturesque and completely distant from the city. We then decided to get back in some air con and took the train back into KL centre. As we appeared from the staircase of the station our eyes were just glued to the monstrous size of the Petronas towers, the Sands Sky Park in Singapore was miniscule compared. We went into tower A to get a ticket to go up to the viewing platform but no tickets were available as it was on a first come first serve basis which is kind of a joke and it was only 1 o'clock so they can't have sold that much the cheeky b******s.
Anyways there was a massive shopping mall inbetween so we wondered around there and grabbed a starbucks too. Around the back of the towers was another park with a paddling type pool for kids so we dipped our toes in and then it was off to our next sight. This was the KL menara tower which was also big so we looked at prices to go up and wow they were 3times as much as the Petronas, included in the price was a horse ride around the block and a zoo ooooo exciting. We decided against and looked around and found an Indian restaurant which was fairly cheap and had everything we wanted. It was okay, Hayley thought it was incredible but she knows nuffin.
We headed home and walking through the streets we stummbled on a pet shop full of tiny little puppies all barking like mad. The shop was closing so we couldn't stay long but seeing the puppies in cages was heartbreaking. Back at the hostel we watched wimbledon ladies final which is always a blast.
After the second day we realised there is not much to do in KL, a boy and girl we met (who I thought were American, ironically they turned out to be from near Newcastle) also confirmed this. But there was one more main attraction to see the Batu Caves which you get to on the slowest train in the world and has a carriage dedicated to just women, sexist muslims, wheres my men carriage ai! (GAY - from Hayley) Every touristy place you go to there is some ethnic culture selling you stuff outside which ruins it abit but apart from that its pretty magnificent. The gold brahma statue that stand along side the steep staircase is a sight to behold, and the rascal monkeys make it complete. They pose for your cameras but as soon as your turn you back they grab whatever it is thats on you and if they dont like it will either chuck it on the floor or over the side of the stairs. Once at the top of the stairs the cave forms a passage way across to a temple which has a dirty long haired lady outside, her hair was down to her feet and all dreaded and matted.
Afterwards we had no ideas of what to do so we headed back on the train and were amused by a Chinese school boy falling asleep rocking back and forth like dad on the sofa, to top it off he dribbled which left us in histerics. We got off the train and wondered the streets looking for a place to eat and returned home for more wimbledon ha.
The night before I was speaking to some people who had just come back from a swimming pool so that was our plan for today. We got up had some jam on toast and roamed the streets in search for this pool only to find out we had walked the longest route possible and it was 2 minutes away oo and to rub it in it wasn't open until 2 and it was 12:30. We bought some more bread and jam and had brunch of jam on toast, a varied diet. After what seemed for ever we headed back to be told i had to wear the smallest trunks possible which luckily I could rent at around 80p, get in! I looked like the biggest tool but fitted in with the others which included a golden styled man thong, Hayley had better luck in her bikini. After a few hours of mucking about and keeping cool the school kids started appearing. It looked like these kids had problems the way they were flailing their arms and legs about whilst keeping their mouths wide open. And then came then teacher a big black Indian man arrived in a skimpy outfit and proceeded to chase and tickle the boys inbetween short stints of swimming, hence the nickname Paedo Pete. Back home and we got ready to go out for a meal which was a pizza at a reggae bar, Hayley was desperate to go back to the doggie shop as it was around the corner, so we went. Inside all of the dogs were awake trying to grab your attention to take them home, one in particular grabbed Hayley's eye a little gay Pomeranian and she was allowed to hold it for what seemed an eternity. Whilst Hayley wasn't sharing her love I offered mine around picking up a selection including a chubby chow chow. Sadly we had to leave even though buying was an option in the back of our heads. We are currently back at our hostel getting ready for bed and looking forward to travelling back to Bangers with Malaysian Airlines which I am extremely happy about, no crappy airlines for me. Good night x
