We arrived in Rome late in the day after exploring Pompeii earlier that day, it was so hot even had a water fight in the van on the way. When we got there we had dinner and met a kiwi couple after dinner and managed to get quite pissy till about 3 in the morning. This definitely didn't help us walking around the next day in the heat. Florence is a beautiful old city, the cathedral there is the biggest in Europe I think? It's huge and very beautiful we didn't go inside because once again the line was so long about a 2 hour wait in the hot hot sun. After nearly 2 months of seeing some amazing buildings we are starting to get a little bit sick of them. We still appreciate there beauty and are in awe of how they built these amazing structures way back then but you do get a bit tired of it all. We...

After the amalfi coast we arrived in Pompeii. Such a long hot drive no air con and about 40 degrees. Arrived to a hot dusty camp site but it was right opposite the ruins so was a good location. Pompeii is very interesting, so much history there, amazing to see bodies in plaster and dogs etc you can see the terror on there faces it seems so surreal. We spent about 3 hours exploring the 40 hectare site in about 40 degree heat before heading off to Rome.

So we caught the ferry from Croatia to Bari Italy after a long 7 hour trip we just made it after being stopped at the border and told we weren't aloud on as our car papers didn't match the car. They finally let us on then once on board, our names were called over the loud speaker to say go to the reception on the ferri. After leaving Venice we took the coast road south through Croatia. The first night we camped next to the beach in a the most expensive caravan park yet. The water is crystal clear and the land is so dry, the beaches seem to be where the sharp rocks finish and the smooth pebbles start. There is no sand anywhere and most people swim ins shoes.
