After a stroll to the newly renovated docks of Puerto Madero, hopped on the subte (underground) to get to the rather nice Belgrano /Castelar district that houses River Plate's football stadium. After a relatively nice hostel breakfast including cereal, croissants, fruit and tea (although not of the standard you immediately imagine) we set off in search of BA adventure. Taxi to El Calafate's small airport, 3 hour flight to Buenos Aires, and a significantly scarier rally driver taxi to our hostel in centro. Wandered about the surrounding area, darting in to a cafe for a submarino (choc bars dipped and melted in to hot milk) to avoid a downpour. 3 hour bus back to El Calafate where we returned to our previous hostel for a day of recuperation, readying ourselves for the Buenos Aires stage. Amy was confined to bed for much of the day feeling a tad fluey but we did manage to stroll out to spot some flamingoes.

Awoke to find we were in luck with the Patagonian weather again - not a cloud in a bright blue sky. Rob's search for a waterproof was perhaps unnecessary after all. Walked north out of El Chalten on the Fitz Roy path, with great views of the valley to the north of El Chalten, then the Fitz Roy range itself.
