Trudged in rather hot sun to the playa del carmen bus station for bus to chetumal (Mexico). Short bus to ferry port, through Mex border and small choppy boat to carribean islands off the east coast of Belize. First stop San pedro on amerbigi caye, where the 'crew'/local pirates did their best to leave our bags on a random street corner in typical 'laid back' / general lack of organisation carribean style.
Eventually made it to caye caulkner, a wee island about 150m wide and 2km long. Sauntered along beach and found nice beach hut style hotel on the reef side of the island. Dined in a cool restaurant that was a cross between something from 1950s America, a scene from the Flipper set, and.... a place on a very tiny island in the carribean. Lobster all round.
