After the 10hr bus journey which was extremely uncomfortable the bus was like a big coach (see photo) but filled with small bunk beds three rows across but for fifteen quid it was not bad really. We shared a taxi with 3 other travellers for 15 min drive to the border with Hong Kong, once we were through customs and filled in various swine flue documents in we hopped on another bus to take us the 45 min drive to HK.We somehow managed to find our hostel on foot from bus station, this one is slightly different from the others as it is on the 13 floor, the whole hostel not just our room. We contacted the woman who lives over here in Hong Kong as she was meeting up with us the next day and arranged to meet her after work.
After a good nights sleep we had a look around by our hostel which is in Tsim Sha Tsui apparently it is where most of the tourists stay and there are lots of hotels and restaurants, there are all the designer shops Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada etc all at the end of our street. We were meeting Jane later that night at a place called Lan Kwai Fong so we made our way across to Hong Kong island via ferry we then caught the tram which takes you up to the peak where you can see the skyline. At the top there are loads of great restaurants and views (but best if you go up later at night as it's all lit up) We made our way back down and went to to a bar to meet up with Jane luckily it was happy hour as it can be quite expensive. The bars became quite busy and its one of the famous nightspots where everyone goes after work, when Jane arrived she took us to a bar which had a room which was minus twenty degrees you have to wear a big fur coat and you go in and have a shot of vodka it was great. We then headed into Wan Chai where all the drinks in all the bars are free every wednesday for all the ladies which was great for me so I hit the champagne. Apparently they do this to get more men into the bars, the drinks are free on Thursdays in all the bars for ladies in Lan Kwai Fong and on Fridays it's free Cosmopolitans all night for free !!!
Went to watch a light show last night and watch the lights coming on on the skyline of Hong Kong it really is amazing, the weather had been super hot until last night when it rained and it's raining a bit this morning too.
Jane has invited us to stay with her on Saturdaay night so when we check out tomorrow we are going to head over to her place and stay and extra night we have then booked a flight which leaves Hong Kong on Saturday 3pm taking us over to Hanoi, Vietnam, we have booked a place to stay so will update hopefully once we are there.
The exchange rate in Vietnam is 31,000 DONG to the british pound so we are looking forward to being millionaires!!
Hope everyone is well at home love to all x
