Yangshauo is about 20km from the city of Guilin and is set in beautiful mountain scenery thousand of cone and triangle shape mountains with like a slight mist on top of each surround the town and rivers run through the city making it a great place for boat trips, it's like being on holiday very relaxing plenty of great trips and amazing places to eat it is a bit more aimed at westerners as more people speak English than in any other place but this does not spoil it. On our first day we went shopping yeeah i was desperate to get a couple of new tops as i had lost some along the way and needed new flip flops but unfortunately had not been able to find any as my feet are too big over here and they never had any above a size 5. Managed to get some here though and have a good walk round and lunch overlooking the river it was so relaxing. That night we went to a light show in the mountains on the river very spectacular have tried to take some photos but they dont do it justice. We had booked to hire some bikes the next day and go to the moon water cave.
Weather was super hot today, the bikes were great bone shakers but everywhere is really flat so did not matter we went to try and find a raft to take us to the moon cave but when we arrived noone understood where we wanted to go so we decided to try and find it ourselves by bike. After being sent the wrong way a couple time we eventually found it and got the bus to take us to the cave. You have to go onto a small boat that fits 6 then you go through a small hole in the middle of the cave you have to duck down so as not to smack your head once inside it's a bit eerie we then got off and walked around this huge cave for about an hour it was spectacular. We then arrived at the mud! You have to get changed behind a curtian and then jump in the mud it was bit disgusting at first but you got used to it Joe put his whole head in (see photos) I only went upto my neck but unfortunately there was photographers in there and you bought your photos so I got out to go and shower and to take some more pictures of Joe who was loving the mud and ours did not devlop so we only have photos of Joe! We then went round the corner looking bit dirty still and into these natural hot springs was so nice stayed in there till we went wrinkly then went to get the bus to go and pick up our bikes. Had a great day.
Next day we went to a huge cave with a giant butterfly on the front (see photos) and inside there was a rocks that had formed in the shapes of butterflys, a huge waterfall and a suspension bridge that took you to a butterfly breeding sanctuary got some really great photos, we then rode back to get something to eat and ended up trying the hottest dish in Yangshauo knocked Joe off his feet for quite a while it was super duper hot. We then went night cormarant fishing you go out on a raft and meet and old fisherman who has loads of these birds with there necks tied so when they catch fish they do not swallow them we then moored up and he graps the birds gets the fish and lets them swallow 1 in 7 so they still get fed was great but they then had us holding the bird was scared as you can probably tell form picture.
We checked out today and are leaving tonight on a 9 hour sleeper bus which should an experience just lots of bunk bends on a bus! We are heading of Shenzen and then hopefully will get a short bus journey to take us to Hong Kong.
Lots of love to all at home will upload the photos when we arrive in Hong Kong as the computers are slow here xxxxx
