Sucre, the quiet yet beautiful capital of Bolivia. Roofs of terracotta and walls washed white on every house, beautiful cobbled streets, great people. Turns out there isn't really much to do in Sucre, especially considering it rained a lot, however the amazing people I shared a hostel with and the great meals we cooked together made the time extremely enjoyable.
Sucre was the location of my introduction to fruit juices and "jugistas" in South America. Competition is fierce between the female juicers, and once you are waved down violently with a menu you are able to select your flavours (as many as you like) with water or milk. I went for the fruit salad, and to my delight I received a gigantic bowl of yoghurt, fruit, coconut, nuts, choc sauce and cream. For only $1.50! Juices soon became one of my favourite activities in Bolivia and I consumed them daily.
Once the rain had finally eased I was able to get my jog on and walk up to the black market and a few lookouts for cool city views. That night I met some homies in the plaza to catch a human rights band (I understood nothing but it was funky). And after it was off to the shisha bar for a few tokes of the flavoured shizzy. A few beers and frequent revolutions of the coconut and apple hookahs and my head was seriously bumpin! Jogged it off on the walk home but all good. Enjoyed more juices the next day before hopping on a bus headed north.
