Monday 18th
We woke up relatively early all slightly sad to be leaving Oz. After a last vegemite scroll (probably the best breakfast food ever!!) we jumped on the shuttle bus and headed to the airport. We checked into our jetstar flight to singappore via darwin and away we went, off on our way to start our trip around SE asia.
We arrived in singapore around 8 in the evening and headed to our hostel via duty free, of course. We stayed in this really nice place called G4 station, near little india, we had free unlimited films and internet so we chilled for most of the evening after having an authentic singaporian meal of chicken and rice for a quid at a place accross the road that looked awful but the food tasted amazing.
Tuesday 19th
We decided it would be a gooid idea to go look round singapore so gareth took us round and showed us most of the main attraction, we went to the raffles hotel and had a singapore sling which you kind of have to do, although it did set me back a massive 27 dollars! But it was worth it, especially with the free peanuts where the eticate is to just chuck the shells on the floor and leave a bit of a mess. After that gareth took us to one of these massive food courts for lunch, where there was just so many stalls it was almost impossible to choose what you wanted as well as it being a bit of a scrum with trying to find somewhere to sit, but in the end we got a table and had a pretty good lunch. After lunch gareth went and had his hair cut like luke mcallister, i m afraid to say that it didnt really work and it looks somewhat hilarious!
The evenings antics started off with of course huckleberry bin, whos trip to asia had been questioned but me and slater insisted that he stayed with us. It was definately one of our better crunk juices, sitting on a third floor balcony looking over singapore at night, which is a very nice sight. We then heading downtown to a place that is know to the masses as the four floors of w****s, of course none of us knew this until we turned up, so gareth had got away with his prank. In the end we had a few hilarious beers whilst watching old men show these hookers how to play with a rubix cube. Gareth then played another prank taking us to a place called romeo's, we didnt stay long as it was full of lady boys, ed had something rubbed against his back which caused us all to run out!! Pretty horrific but pretty hilarious!! We then spent the rest of the night in a slightly nicer bar.
MALAYSIA
Wednesday 20th
Me and slater headed up to KL on an aeroline coach, which is like a first class coach. It was amazing, we had big lazy boy chairs, TV, food, pillows, everything! Amazingly comfortable and only 18 quid. Anyways we arrived at the corrus hotel in KL at around 7 30 where we were met by uncle andrew, shashi, perry and misha (who had the everything they could possibly think of to tell me). He took us straight out for dinner in chinatown, where we had a really nice meal next to the market with guys contantly trying to sell me fake rolex's etc. we then headed back to andrew place, we put the kids to bed and had a nice last night swim to cool us down in andrew pool.
Thursday 21st
We chilled out for most of the morning, had a proper malaysian breakfast or roti (kind of like naan bread) and curry sauce and then headed into town with andrew on the KL monorail, which was pretty cool really. As we arrived the heavens opened and it absolutely chucked it down! I have never seen it rain that hard anywhere, the road was pretty much flooded within about 5 minutes, we ended up buying a couple of cheap umbrellas of this street seller, we then ran accross the road to a shopping centre for a bit of shelter, slaters flipflop went drifting off down the road, but he luckily got it back. Andrew went off for his meeting and me and slater went and had a steak which cost us about 6 quid for a massive steak! Was pretty awesome. We then met up with andrew again, went and had a few beers at a bar that had baby sharks swimming around in fish tanks above the bar and then headed home to see the kids and have dinner. Shashi had cooked us up a nice dinner so we chilled out with some nice home cooked food, told a few stories of our travels and then had a relatively early night.
Friday 22nd
We woke up early so that we could take the kids to school, we then headed into town to try and go up the twin towers, but the que was so big that it just wasn't worth it so we went and had a different malaysian breakfast instead. I cant remeber what it was called but it was basically rice with egg, peanut sauce and anchovies (and yes i did eat fish, i m trying to overcome my deadly hate of it travelling) and it was actually pretty good! We then went to the coach station, bought our coach tickets for later on that day and then went and picked the kids up from school again. We had a really nice afternoon in the pool with the kids and it was nice to spend some time with everyone before i left.
Before we got our coach we headed to the temple with shashi, which was quite cultural of me but i thought i needed to do something like that travelling at least once. Me and slates had the spots put on our heads and then we went and had some dinner and a roadside restaurant, which again from the outside looked horrible but the food was really nice. We then headed down to the coach station where we jumped on our 10 hour coach up to kuala besut where we would catch a ferry to the perhentian islands.
Saturday 23rd
After a very long overnight coach ride with little to no sleep and a halfway stop at a place lith the worst loos i have ever seen, we arrived in kuala besut where we hung around for a couple of hours until the first boats left for the perhentian islands. We got on a speedboat with twin 200hp which was pretty sweet and then bombed it over to the island of perhentian kecil where we were staying at long beach. We checked into the panorama hostel and chilled on the beach all afternoon. We then had an awesome supper off the bbq and a few to many drinks (monkey juice - the local spirit), some shisha, a walk into the jungle with some crazy swedish guys to try and find the jungle bar and all round a pretty awesome evening on a beach in what i cant really describe with a better word than paradise! crystal clear water, white sand and cocktails on the beach what more could you want!!
