Back on the train for uji famed for the most expensive green tea in Japan .attending a traditional tea ceremony .and maybe sampling some of the local delicacies yes all made from green tea ,ice cream, waffles, and even spicy green tea noodles.arriving late and jogging through the rain for 4k I gave up looking for the famous tea house of uji and just strolled around looking in the various shop windows when I was dragged of the street by an old Japanese lady shouting at me .once inside the shop the smell of Japanese sencha was overpowering and the very friendly old ladies were grinding fresh tea,, the prices on the bags were up to 200 quid .i was ushered into the back sat in a tea room and was given a green tea platter with a froffy warm 100% pure Sencha weird and strong served with small gluey jellies from tofu I think dusted with pure green tea and sugar absolutely strange and delicious and ice green tea refreshing..one of the older ladies then sat down next yabbering at me in Japanese and showing me old photos whilst chain smoking three to my one followed by a tour of the tea making .good fun.x
