Today we went to Grasse to see a perfume factory called Fragonard. We went on a tour around the factory I learnt that in 1926 it became a family business but the name came from a famous painter in the area. They use flowers from all over the world but only local flowers are distilled in the factory. Some scents are sourced from Australia. I have a photo of a map where all the flowers come from. Today we had McDonalds for breakfast. Which is a treat for us. It is quite expensive over here. We drove to another town Aix en Provence. Not far from Marseilles. lots if students live here. Today we drove to Avignon. Around Avignon is a big wall. In the olden days the wall was there to keep the people safe. We drove into the old city through an entrance in the wall. It was very busy with narrow streets. We went to a big food market. There were lots of different types of food. There was seafood, fruit and vegetables, meat, cheese, pasta and sweets and lots more. Today we explored Lyon. It was wet and cold because it rained all day. We took a tram up the hill to look at a big church which looked like a castle. We paid a man in the street a couple of Euro's to make us nice hot pancakes that we could eat. We walked everywhere because it was too hard to find a park in Lyon. Today we left the chàtaeu. I had to say good bye to my new friends Sam and Zoe among others. We left with some of mum and dad's friends Josh and Khan from Singapore. We decided to drive with them to Lyon and then onto the 'Provence' region before going to Italy. On the way to Lyon we made a detour for a place called 'Oradour-sur-Glane'.
