We actually had to back-track a little on our trip, as we had a canoeing trip down in the Noosa Everglades, but had trouble ensuring the dates. After Rainbow Beach we travelled down to Noosa National Park with Danny and Vikki and spent the day just wandering around the stunning beaches. We were in Noosa for Australia day aswel, which was pretty cool, and they had a huge blow-up Havaianas world record thing in the sea. That evening we made our way to the Noosa Bush Camp to have our briefing for the three day canoe trip.
We were lucky to have another wicked group, although abit more diverse this time. We had 5 canoes go out, each with two people in (an English girl, a German girl, two canadians, two Isralies and two Dutch ladies.) We spent the night in the Bush Camp, although I slept in the van cos I was bloody terrified of the spiders. We had to be up at 6am the next day to meet the returning group and get their canoes. We first had to canoe across a huge lake, which we all did pretty casually and it still only took just over an hour. We hit the information point and had some lunch, then headed deep into the everglades. It was some of the most stunning views I have ever seen. The water was so still with no noise apart from the nature and us.
We evenutally made it to camp after a slight detore from the young army boys, who couldn't accept they were wrong - all very funny, and actually a nice detore really! We set up camp and made our food, and were pretty much all passed out by 11pm. Up again early for more canoeing (about 7km's) and then a 12km walk up to the sand dunes. Then another 7km canoe back. Another pretty early night after this.
The final day I actually took a photo of my phone alarm as it was set for 3.45am!! We had to be packed up and left by 5am in order to canoe the 14km back to the mainland for 9am. It is safe to say that I didn't enjoy the last day. About 5km's from the end and a lot of singing, Andy and are had to start playing the game 'I went to the shop and bought' - this was funny until we actually started thinking about what we wanted. I know it seems silly, but you don't know how much you crave a can of cold coke after 3 days of drinking warm rainwater! It was so hard becasue we were canoeing against the currentl so every two strokes forward you were pretty much going one back! I got to the point that I just was desperate to get out the canoe, but there was nowhere for me to go accept water (and that was filled with bull sharks!)
Yet another very enjoyable 'character building' experience!
