Hello humbugs.
So back tracking a little........ I absolutely hated Brisbane, it was so dull and boring nothing great about the place. On the leaflets it says that the man made beach on the south bank makes up for there not being a beach BUT it doesn't , so I will never be going back there again! Although we did meet some really nice people, apart from this weird man who came in with an emply bag! I made mark sleep with me on the top bunk because I was so scared ( could of just been that he had a country Australian accent) all I kept thinking about was the film Outback.
Anyway so I feel I need to mention this......mark watched thierry Henry score a goal for arsenal and got all emotional and nearly cried it was hilarious!!.
We are now back in Hervey Bay, really quiet town nothing much to do you just come here before and after Fraser island for the night.it poured down with rain for a couple of days after my birthday I can't remember the last time I saw rain like it so I was the day before Fraser island I was Abit nervous about driving a 4WD on the beach and mud tracks ( seen a lot of pics of over turned vehicles). Luckily the sun came out when we went wahoo. We camped for two nights at an Aboriginal campsite - had to share a tent with 8 people!! (they were all lovely though!!). There were 15 of us altogether, we all got put Into groups for the cars and given a shopping list. The meat was awful! The ham didn't taste of ham it was just salt yuk!. Our groups food was stolen on the second day so our guide cooked us all dinner which was yummy- he used to be a chef!!.
Yes I DROVE the car for about an hour along the beach!! It was fun ( didn't drive as fast as Abby - we defo would of toppled over). O ye and I was the ONLY one to get the car stuck in sand!! Hahah Typical. Mark Was really good at driving actually hel probAbly find it weird when he drives his car again!. We went to loads of different lakes there's too many to write down but you can drink the water from most of them. There was an aloe lake which was brown and you could even drink that! It had turtles in they were so cute!. Then we went to a stream that you just float down!. we saw the Maheno shipwreck, it's a british ship It sunk in 1935 and then drifted ashore, there's 3 and a half Storeys buried under the sand so you can't go too close to it But you can still see the stair case! .
The other car burst a tyre, they were lucky they didn't over turn it, it literally went on one wheel up a sand bank hit a rock ( broke the rock!) so the whole car had to pay 400 dollars because they damaged the wheel rim too!!.that was the only annoying thing about the trip, we were all nervous about damaging the cars!! Luckily ours was fine.
At the camp there were dingos, I actually think there really cute I just wanted to stroke one! But obviously couldn't. I also risked my life to get pictures of spiders they are so HUGE and discusting looking, I thought I was bitten by one on the last night bi of paranoia I think because I hadn't been!.
Had an amazing time at Fraser island, sad it over BUT we sailing the whitsundays in the great barrier reef marine park. Fingers crossed its better than the red sea!! As I am very hard to please! ( as you all know!!)
Sadly we have only 2 weeks left on OZ which means 6 weeks until we are home OMG it's gone so quick!!.
Missing you all. We have a 12 hour coach trip tonight- not looking forward to that!!
