Happy Australian day!!
The humidity here is a joke! The temp is over 30 but it's the humidity you can feel.
Update: I must be the most unluckiest person in Australia. Read on to find out more!!.........
So we arrived back onto dry land yesterday afternoon( thank god!). We went on a sailing adventure our boat was called tongarra for 2 days 2 nights and I can tell you this now it's the First and last time im EVER stepping foot onto a boat!!. When we first boarded the boat iI felt fine until all of a sudden out of nowhere I felt dramatically ill.yuk.
We did see dolphins swimming along In the sea, I tried getting a pic but the photo just looks like a sharks fin, so I won't be putting it on Facebook it's pathetic!! .
There were 21 of us on board including the two seamen( I don't know what you call them, so seamen will have to do!!) apparently the lead seaman earns 150,000 dollars a year - I don't know if I believe that myself!!. So anyway back to my story we slept on the top deck as the beds downstairs were sooo tiny, my little toe would of struggled getting in to the bed ( they were basically kitchen cupboard size). On the second day it was pouring down with rain( its cyclone season here) which was very fun!. They took us to Whitehaven beach but it didn't look like it does in the magazines. Most people decided to swim across from the boat so they put on a stinger suit ( your not allowed to go in the sea without one In Queensland because of the jellyfish, even though you get them in the sea in loads of countries including the red sea!). I did it the lazy way and just went across in the speed boat. We brushed our teeth with the sand because it's so fine so hopefully I haven't ripped all the enamel off- I can't afford for my dentist to steal anymore money off me!!.
We saw a huge jellyfish on the beach but unfortunately didn't have a camera with us ( we wanted to put it on my head to take a picture !(Would of been so funny!). We all decided enough was enough and headed back to the boat, as soon as we drove away the sun came out!!!!!. This is when the sickness started to really kick in, seriously I have never felt so ill before! About an hour later we stopped to go snorkelling so we all went in, 15 mins later I felt so sick so had to call for the mini boat to come and rescue me. I didn't make it into the boat so I was sick in the sea - food for the fish yummy, i had my feet under the boat and A huge fish called a GT ( they look like sharks and have teeth!!) took a chunk out of my foot obviously I was not impressed!! It hurt so much and bled- I was also scared that a shark would smell my blood . I won't go on about the amount of times I was sick in the sea but it was more than 5 times! O and I had beetroot for lunch.
The fish are huge here but we both agreed that for snorkelling we think the red sea is much better! There's much more of a variety of fish and more colours.
We are off to our final destination in Australia tonight! Wer both looking forward to new Zealand!! As its much cheaper there and apparently all the hostels are cleaner! Which will be nice ( maybe I can take my flip flops off??) Wev got about 6 weeks left on our travels it's gone so fast!!
Mucho love
