Cologne (Köln)
After twenty years since I came here
as young novice with the Scalabrinian Fathers
'twas a great experience and opportunity
to work with immigrants like in this city.
Cologne or Köln made me appreciate more
its history, culture, art and architecture
the Dome in gothic designs
statutes of saints engraved on the walls.
Biblical images reflect in stained windows
artifacts and frescoes all over
that admiration, indeed, can tell more.
I lit a candle and said a little prayer
highlighting the needs of those peole
like friends and siblings that I prayed for
indeed, 'tis my concern in communion with Him.
Parallel to this array of direction
is the depth and height of my affliction
problems I heard and experienced
brought me to ponder more on them.
The cries of those poor people
even in this wealthy nation
the poor ones who beg for donations
alms or mercies from people across cultures
reminded me of Jesus' teachings about the poor.
Antiquated buildings surround the centerville
a lot of young people hang out around the dome
others enjoy the company of their family relations,
friends, loved ones, and their co-nationals.
I took some pictures in places I deem
like parts of the dome, monuments and other buildings
those lovely spots where tourists flock
the core of interest and admiration.
As the day drew to a close
I decided to wind up with a decision
that my visit to this great city of Cologne
would conclude with a desire to get back home.
