I was not expecting it to be, but Zurich has been my favorite city so far. Which is a pretty big deal in comparison to where I have been. This morning we went to yet another museum?surprise, surprise. The Kunsthaus was pretty cool I guess. After that we had the rest of the day free.We went to Lake Zurich, which is the main lake that is right in the middle of the city.It was sooo beautiful.Zurich is basically in the middle of a canyon surrounded by mountains. The town was really cool because you could see the lake, where it was pretty hot, with sailboats and people swimming, and other lake type stuff, but then when you look up there are snow-capped mountains. And not to mention the cute little atmosphere of the town.It looked pretty old and historic, but at the same time the whole place seemed really modern.
Anyway, today was my favorite day so far in the trip.We went to the lake dressed in our clothes from the museum. We were just going to go see how warm it was and if it was worth a trip back to the hotel to get bathing suits. It ended up being entirely too beautiful to waste time getting the metro back to the hotel, but we really wanted to swim. So, we all (about 15 people) went swimming in our clothes.I bet the Zurich people thought we were crazy Americans. We swam out to a dock and jumped off of it for a while. It was a lot of fun, but it really made me miss being in the water during the summer. Then we swam back to shore and dried off a little.Once relatively dry we decided to go to the store to pick up some food for dinner. We went to Coop.It was kind of like a department store/grocery store.Basically like Wal-mart, but really classy. So we went there and got food for a picnic. We were going to walk down to the river to eat it, but we all got too hungry. We stopped and had our picnic on some benches by the river instead. After that Marisa and I decided that we went to go back to Coop to get some shampoo and conditioner, because they actually had American brands. Then we went back to the hotel. It doesn't sound like we did much, but it was a really awesome day.I am so sad that we are leaving again in the morning.I would have liked to spend at least 2 more days here. Oh well? Off to Paris in the morning!
Ps- Today really made me really realize how blessed I am by my surroundings and especially the people that I get to experience all of this with! The trip would truly not be the same without them!
