What a day? When thinking about what I would like most about this trip, I always assumed that Venice would be my favorite city.I thought I would like the old time feel, boats, water, little side streets, and glass.I was right.I am in love with Venice.I have enjoyed this entire trip, but Venice and Barcelona have been my favorites.Venice seemed like a place of another world. It didn't seem real. How could an entire city be built on water and survive for such a long time? The whole time today I was imagining what it would have been like to grow up in Venice.Walking or taking a boat to school everyday, waiting for the grocery boat to ride by to pick up some fresh fruit, being around tourists all the time, being surrounded by the beauty and craftsmanship of glass, and so much more.I couldn't really wrap my mind around all of it.
I wish we were spending more time in Venice. In each city so far I have felt like I had time to do and see everything that I wanted in the allotted time, but in Venice I feel like our time is cut short.I am really bummed about leaving on Wednesday. But at least I got to do most of the things that I wanted to.We started out at the Ca Rezzonico, then moved to the Academia, then the Peggy Guggnheim.Yep.. 3 museums in one day.Can you say overwhelming?Today after our museums, we went shopping for a long time.I love glass.I could probably shop for glass jewelry for hours and hours. It amazes me how all of it is so distinctly different. Each piece was hand made to perfection. It seems crazy to me.After shopping we went on a gondola ride, which was fun, but would have been more fun if our gondolier would have sung to us? So instead of him singing to us we sang "When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie? That's amore!"He was pretty impressed by our musical talent and Italian proficiency. After thoroughly entertaining our gondolier we went to eat.We actually had a really great dinner. It was in my top 3 for favorite dinners on this trip! They made us fettucine-alfredo.It was wonderful.
After dinner, we had an adventure trying to get home on the train, then a bus, then a taxi.Long story?
