This is the very first day of my long venture into latin America. I cannot say much about Mexico since I have been spending less than 24 hours but my first impression is very good. We keep hearing all these negative things about the city that I was preparing myself for the worse. I did find the city much safer than what I had read everywhere and did not feel that much pollution (Bangkok is probably 10 times worse). I was staying at a small pension about 1 hour commute from the airport using the Metro and my Nikes. The hostel was fine but very elementary, I could never figure out why the door of my room was locking from the outside.
