After a couple of days in Mumbai we decided there was only so much to do and with the rains just starting we decided to head north . Rapidly. So after seeing a Bollywood film in Bollywood we headed North to Delhi on the a 17hr sleeper train. this proved to be the best descision due to Mumbai flooding the next day! Somehow I manage to miss all these major events but really I shouldn't complain as I would have been stuck there for days. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/4723335.stm
So now in Delhi what else is there to do but experience proper delhi belly which I did the very next day. Fortunately I reckon I'm back to normal but have been taking it easy. We had met an Australian singer on the train and so have spent the last couple of nights at her appartment in the much nicer suburbs. We had actually stumbled on the richer, show -bizz part of delhi meetting band members of the Indian band MenWhoPause amoungst whom consisted of a pupeteer on the Indian version of Spitting Image and writers for maxim. We joined them at a open air live music concert to see Pink Noise perform and later went to a real upmarket Indian restaurant for curry. Everything was ordered for usso we didn't have to make sense of the menu. Along with having no rice with the meal, there were a few strange things there. They drank what can be best described as toilet water complete with nutty bits floating on top (apparantly no white people like it so surprisingly not come across it before now!). It has been fantastic to see the other side of Delhi and how the upper classes live; a far cry from the littered cramped streets surrounding the old town. I expect that is the last time we will see such affluence as we continue further North tonight to Pathenkot and onward to the see the Dali Lama...
