After realising that we had spent so much time in India and were in danger of having to miss out another country later on we decided to get our arses into gear and mission it accross the country. The last week or so have been pretty busy so I will summarise as much as possible. We took a jeep from Manali to Leh near the top of India close to the chinese border. The Manali-Leh highway is reputedly the second highest in the World and I certainly felt it. It is easy to see why this route is only open for four months of the year. The road is littered with signs thanking for your patience whilst is is being repaired when in reality, in my mind, it is still...

So before we moved on to Manali, we finally managed to climb Triund out of McLeod Ganj. It took just 4.5hrs to climb around 1150m and then another 3 to descend. It was a great walk to start to trekking part of this trip when reaching the top exposing the Himalayas soaring even higher behind. Some amazing views were to be had and plenty of photos were taking. Another night train saw us arrive in Pathenkot in North of Delhi and a rather fast 3 hr taxi ride to McLeod Ganj, home of the Dalhai Lama. We have been staying at around 1770m in the foothills of the Himalayas proving to be a great place to revocer from the old Delhi belly (only now to exchange it for a cold!). Respite arrived at perfect timing with the end of my luxury soft toilet paper brought from home so now it's back to the old shcool tracing paper again. ...

After a couple of days in Mumbai we decided there was only so much to do and with the rains just starting we decided to head north . Rapidly. So after seeing a Bollywood film in Bollywood we headed North to Delhi on the a 17hr sleeper train. this proved to be the best descision due to Mumbai flooding the next day!
