Greg and Kerrie's travels
After returning to the 'Pommie Ducati', we set off for Patra and found the ferry terminal with ease. We were going to purchase what is called "air" seats. They are seats the same as you find in an aeroplane; they recline to a limited degree so that you can sleep. Given that the voyage was going to take over 12 hours over night, we decided to treat ourselves and upgrade to a two berth cabin with private facilities. The cost of the cabin was 188 Euro (about $250) rather than 80 Euro we would have paid for the air chairs.
Before boarding we took the time to give the "Pommie Ducati" the once over with wipes to rid itself of the last of Greek dust. We also "played" with the camera and took some reflection shots. We think we will stick to our day jobs and leave professional photography to the professionals. You be the judge.
We rode the bike onto the ‘Ionian Queen’, secured and then left the ‘Pommie Ducati’ in the bowels of the ship near some other of its two wheeled friends, being a non descript Kawasaki and Suzuki. We then walked the deck and took a last few photos of Patra - who knows if we will return to Greece?
Lucky for us, we were given a four berth cabin as the ship was nearly empty. A quick shower to freshen up, off for a coffee, dinner and then a walk around to find the exit routes (just in case of tsunami - after all we watched 'The Poseidon Adventure' back in our youth!) We discovered a photo of the Acropolis by night and decided that we would just take a photo of the photo and claim it as our own! b***** copyright!
Anyway, after second thoughts we decided to do the right thing and took a second photo, this time with Kerrie in it.
It was then off to bed and rocked to sleep by the swaying of the ship.
Italy awaits!
