Greg and Kerrie's travels
We now have 5 days riding and 4 overnight stays before we get to Assen for the MotoGP on Saturday 29th June. We tried to plot a route but everywhere we thought of for a day's destination seemed to be either too far or too close to ride! After much map searching and Tom Tom route planning, we made some decisions.
The ride today was to take us from Poland into the Czech Republic. Destination - Hradec Kralove. This town was chosen purely because it was a comfortable day’s ride away. Our accommodation was to be a converted monastery right in the old town square.
The Czech countryside is beautiful – rolling hills, very green with villages dotted throughout. Morning tea was a rest station on the side of the freeway – nothing very exciting at all but about 20 other bikes were parked there (Sports Bike Sunday!) so that was good enough for us.
All was going well until the sky started to become darker and darker but Greg assured Kerrie (as he always does) that we were not going that way! He was right; we only had a few sprinkles of rain before we arrived at our hotel.
Our walk this afternoon was a bit of a surprise – we thought Hradec Kralove was an old town and we had found the middle of it. We walked down a cobbled street for about 100m and then found ourselves in a very modern section of the town with a river flowing through it. We decided that we like the old section better and returned to the square for our dinner.
Tomorrow we would continue through the Czech Republic and end up in Berlin.
