DAY 18 - CHRISTCHURCH it's New Years Day and a rather sedate one. get up around 1.30. take a wander into town with jenna and steve. we go to burger king and end up spending the next 2 and a half hours there, just like when i was about 14, making a drink last as long as possible. free refills this itime though. infact we are acting like 14 year olds , quite comical how 3 grown up s act so stupid when bored and hungover. jenna is a smart , she tells us how she has some published poetry out there and has already wriitten 7 novels. she is only 20 too. we head back to the base and meet up with sabine and anne micheele. anne michelle informs me i am now her teddy bear, something to do with being cuddly and funny. which is nice. we also find out that our random friend has left and changed rooms. he cleared all his stuff when sabine was in the room, completely ignoring her and huffing and sighing alot. oh well his loss. for dinner we have kfc a bucket between me steve and megan who has returned from escorting jan to the airport. we dont manage to finish the bucket. on our way back to the base we bump into the sri lankan cricket captain, murandlithhfhegfuih i'll get back to you with the spelling of his name. he didnt look too happy to see us. well they were 4-0 down in the series. we plan to meet up later for drinks, before which we say our goodbyes to jenna who is off home now. neil has already left by the way he left 1st thing in the morning to visit his cousin in taupo. oh philip left on new years eve too. the frenchies are late again so i go hurry them up. we enjoy a few quite drinks in warners, it raining again. an early night we are all shattered.
