Come with me on a journey through time and space
Day 2 of the connections tour - byron bay
today i try surfing. me and a wetsuit thats slightly too small, not a pretty sight.
We surfed at tallion bay, got driven there in a mini bus and had to carry the boards for what seemed like a km or 2 with no shoes on on boiling tarmac and sand ouchy. the surf tutor was pretty grumpy but the surfing was great fun. of course i was no good at it. catch a few waves, stand up and fall over.i should have tried once and then headed to the bar. i did manage a few nice barrel rolls which was nice. nothing like the taste of the ocean. my final wave i decided to really go for it, obviously i came crashing down ind ripped aload of skin off my knee, picture will be attached shortly. after our 3 hour lesson i wa burnt on the tops and soles of my feet, burnt on my face and calfs and had a wonderful taste of salt water. but it was well worth it.
in the evening we went for dinner at the rail. there are now 27 of us. burger & chips of course, service was bad 1hr 30 min wait for food, but we had fun. a drunk hippy couple joined us on our table although there clearly wasn't room, they added some entertainment to the night, but became quite abusive to the american girls "we have lived here 25 years, why dont you go back to where you came from"
we left the rails to go to a few bars, 1st stop cheeky monkeys, not my favorate location. walked in full of morons dancing to hip hop on tables, wet floor busy as hell but worst of all, the bar was impossible to reach. if im staying here a want a drink. so a few of us left to try somewhere else. little did we know that because it was the aussie holidays everywhere was packed and we couldnt get in anywhere. so we brought some booze and headed to the cabins for a few cheeky ones. nice evening in the end.
