We drove alot these next few days from Vic falls to South Luangwa lots of people were waving though and they live in huts which is cool to see and these are usually right next to brick houses where no one seems to want to live - they are usually half finished so I guess maybe they just very slowly build brick houses so most are not habitable.
We got to South Luangwa along a very very bumpy road they are a quarter of the way building a lovely new smooth road made of tarmac so in a few years that drive will feel very different and take less then half the time it took us to go there. In the campsite they had a hippo friendly pool because we camped in the wild and elephants and hippos could walk into the camp. We could even see them all along the other side of the riverbank. It was a night drive and very soon in we saw a leopard sat right next to the road literally about a meter and a half from our safari truck we couldnt get a good photo though as our cameras were not good in the dark. This was one of the big highlights on our trip to see the most beautiful and elusive animal so close up when its supposed to be the hardest to spot as it usually stays in the trees. We also saw lots of hippos walking around as they come out of the water at nighttime and some giraffes in the dark.
That night Henry cooked for us which was a nice break and Ben and Hollie that had chosen not to do the tour said that an elephant had come right up to them in the camp which must've been so scary! The next morning we had to be up for a 6 o'clock game drive which was really hard and we didnt see very much just a few giraffes and puku and hippos in the water. Dan said he heard hyaenas whooping in the night aswell. The road back from south luangwa is so bumpy and was very uncomfortable and all the kids kept begging asking for pens and sweets and money which isnt very nice because we get asked by probably 100 kids a day and really they should be in school but they know these trucks go past and they think its worth their while to try to beg. Sometimes people think they are doing good but in the long run it probably isn't. On our last night in Zambia Jen got drunk and it was so funny, she cant remember it though.
