we squeezed into the car with bags piled all around us and set off from the hotel anxious to get there quickly as we needed to reserve the train to venice and we were worried it would already be fully booked, but after jumping out of the car at the station to get quickly into the queue it was dead easy to reserve and we need not have rushed. after grabbing lunch we headed through town towards the castle which was very picturesque. we went up in the funucular to save time but there wasnt much up there apart from nice views of the city. here we left grainnes dad and helena as they had a further drive on to salzburg. we wondered down and through town were we came accross a glass stall which we bought a liquer bottle and shot glasses for dirt cheap, as well as other tut. we saw all of what is to be seen in ljubljana and sat down next to the river for ages s we had alot of time to kill before our half two train. slowly we headed toward the train station where we bought dinner from mcdonalds as everywhere else was shut. we bought things from the uro saver menu and one at a time so we wasted some more time. we sat in the luggage room for about 5 hours fighting the urge to sleep. with us were two tramps, and we must have looked pretty rough because on of the tramps offered us a piece of his cardboard to sleep on...
