We did a flight over the delta in two small planes, a 4 person one for the girls and a 5 for the boys. It was really cool seeing the animals from the air like elephants giraffes and hippos. A while into it the pilot asked if I (Dan) wanted to have a go at flying the plane. He told me how to turn and climb and fall and the altitude metre and other dials I had to keep an eye on. I was driving for about 15 minutes and he asked me to take it down to a certain altitude and turn towards a line on the horizon. As we got closer to the line which turned out to be the runway, another plane flew in front and he told me to follow it then brought it into and in line with the runway where he took over again for the actual landing it was amazing.
That night we bush camped on the side of the road, during dinner we heard lions roaring and eddie said they were about 2km away. During the night we heard them a few more times, including when Grainne went for a wee and it roared while she was peeing which made her run back into the tent. I thought I felt something against the tent that night and in the morning there was a lion footprint in the middle of camp.
The next day we nearly left Ben in the middle of nowhere because we thought that he was sitting in the front with Eddie but I saw him running after the truck and got Eddie to stop. The drive was a long and straight road where we must have seen about 40-50 elephants just at the side of the road, and we kept having to stop for them blocking the road or crossing it.
The chobe river cruise was very good and included in our price, we saw hippo, giraffe, some more elephant, crocodile, buffalo, lizards and watched the sun set. We had steak for tea but it was awful.
