Just thought I would do l short blog about our time in Cambodia, so have placed this at the border crossing, even though we did not stay here.We spent less than 2 weeks here, but really loved the country. We would have been happy to spend a little more time here, but not too much longer though, as there are not lots of things to do.Saying that though, it's a really great place to chill out and is mostly very cheap. The people were very friendly and helpful and we felt very safe here.
We took a few bus journeys which varied in standard and comfort! They tend to show videos of Cambodian karaoke, which can get a little annoying, as all songs sound the same, with the same keyboard demo beat in the background! They also do the same dance move to every song and the men occasionally go, "Huh, huh, huh, huh" on the off beat!On one coach they brought out children's plastic chairs for the extra passengers to sit on in the aisles, so much more civilized than India! Our last coach, which brought us over the border was particularly luxurious, with spacious leather 70's recliners and leg rests! The only problem was the old American guy with his teenage Asian girlfriend who were sat in front of us kissing and giggling (not to sound prudish, but it was just wrong!)
So, we shall miss Cambodia and it's amazing people, who have come so far in such a short space of time from their horrific past.It is definitely a country worth visiting, rich in history, both ancient and modern and with some great beaches too.Sihanouk Ville has something to offer everyone, with so many beaches and islands to choose from. You can get great night life and peaceful beautiful beaches so close to each other, just do some research and go exploring if you do go there.
So, on to Vietnam now…. I sense lots of museums and war history are to come….
