On the way back to Hanoi we met an Australian couple, Kelly and Paul (hi guys!), who we ended up travelling to Hue with. Unfortunately, all the trains were booked so we ended up catching our first night bus - an experience! It started off vaguely exciting - a bit like having a sleepover! It was slightly less exciting at 3am when all the lights were turned on for the millionth time for seemingly no reason at all! Nevertheless, we made the most of our only day in...

We had a good journey from Guilin to Hanoi and were very relieved that our train tickets (that looked nothing like a train ticket and was, strangely, in Russian!) turned out to be real. We shared our cabin with a really interesting guy who had been working as a cameraman in the desert North of Beijing and in Shanghai filming 'The Mummy III'. We passed a very pleasant evening looking at his photo's of Jet Li - pretty cool! We went through the Chinese border at 1....
