We spent a couple of days when we got back from Chitwan in the nearby towns of Patan and Bhaktapur.They are both older and quieter than Kathmandu and it was nice to get out of the city.We stayed overnight in Bhaktapur and it was really nice to be somewhere traffic free and away from the incessant horn beeping! The town really came to life at night when all the tourists leave and we spent a very pleasant couple of hours people watching.We've decided that we now qualify as real backpackers as we decided to catch the public bus as it saved us a huge 180 rupees each (about 1.50!) compared to a taxi!
