So after our little diversion in Luxembourg we did a mammoth 6 hour, 550km drive accross the breadth of Germany to our current location of Nuremberg. We picked this mainly as its a good stop off before crossing the border into the Czech Republic but also as there is so much recent history in Germany we felt we should really look at some of it. Now this was a good choice and probably the place we've enjoyed most, certainly in Germany. Maybe we are just shallow people as this is a very touristy part of the country but it does really have a holiday atmosphere - and of course it is helped by the sun shining. After we left Edersee, in the rain again amazingly, we decided to have one more day on the fairy tale road to see what it brought. The trail was supposed to take us through Red Riding Hood's home village, where Snow White lived with the dwarfs and what I was really looking forward to - the home of Garden Gnome manufacturing! Today we left the rainy Harz mountains behind and rejoined the fairy tale road. We saw "Rapunzal's tower" we think. Not quite how I'd expected it but nice all the same - see photo! We have a bit of a problem trying to make sure we're seeing what we think we are as everything is in German and they're not very sympathetic to English speakers!
