We arrived in Denmark on Friday after crossing the bridge from Malmo in Sweden and proceeded straight into Copenhagen. I've used a picture of Amsterdam as Off Exploring didn't have any Library photos of Denmark at all and Copenhagen does look quite dutch in parts. Its a much bigger noisier city than the ones we visited in Sweden and Norway. Much more advertising and more American tourists so it was a bit disappointing at first, but we sought out some of the old bits and it is quite pretty really. The highlight for me was Tivoli gardens. We're not normally fairground sort of people - the last park like that we'd been to was Legoland with Gordon's nephews about 5 years ago and I just held the coats - but Tivoli is a bit different with lovely gardens and little theatres as well. Having said that Gordon wasn't overly impressed with it - he even got bored with the jazz ballet show I was enjoying, men in tights, what's wrong with that? I suppose it is a bit girly with all the flowers and fairy lights but I still think he was being a bit of an old poop! Though it certainly wouldn't appeal to those of you who are Alton Towers afficionados - a bit more wimpish than that I think!
On the Saturday we took a tour up the coast where all the Copenhagenites go for their weekend days out. there are some lovely beaches and little villages and strangely a lot of thatched cottages.Â
