According to Google Maps, the journey to Bude in Cornwall was going to take 4 and a half hours. Six hours later, we pulled into the beautifully located estate of Kennacott Court. As our body clocks are still on Alaska time, we decided to drive home last night, arriving at 1.00 am this morning. It was a lovely drive as not only was there very little traffic but we haven't seen a dark night for two weeks. Also, the lightning was putting on a magnificent show just for us. And now to bed.

Top marks for Air Canada for roomy seats and chair-back TVs. Touchdown was 11.23 this morning. In no time at all, we are car park bound and back on the M25 to Biggin Hill. It's always nice to get home. Apparently, the UK has been in the grip of a heatwave since we left a fortnight ago.

This morning started well when the zip broke on my case. Still, rather at home than on our travels. A quick transfer into a bigger case and we were ready. The first leg of our journey is completed. I know we haven't yet left the country but it still counts. As we are flying out of Heathrow early tomorrow, we are spending the day with Charlotte and Roger.
