This morning the weather was pretty awful and we thought the day was going to be a total washout. We had a leisurely morning reading and generally lounging around. When we could lounge no longer, we decided to venture forth if only to get some food. We decided to travel south to the end of the E10 to a place called Å. We found ourselves in a car park with no option to go any further by car so we parked up and continued on foot. The rain stopped and the sun came out intermittently as we walked out over the rocks towards the sea. It was lovely and unexpected. On our way back up the E10, we called in at Reine, a beautiful little town with its own little harbour. We had lunch at the Lantern restaurant. We have learned to eat when we get the opportunity as they are few and far between. The rain began again in earnest as we continued north to Eggum. Incredibly, it stopped when we arrived. We had heard of an art installation here, the head, and were curious to see it thinking it may be similar to Dream that can be seen from the M62. We had a bracing walk along the sea-front but could see no sign of it. When we finally tracked it down, it was only the size of a human head. However, it was very clever in its design as it changed as you walked round it. From one angle, it looks like a classic portrait, while from another it looks like a head turned upside down. It was created by Markus Raetz from Switzerland. We never did manage to buy more provisions as it would seem that the few shops in our area close on Thursdays so we returned to the Lantern in Reine for takeaway pizza.
