Skint Ex-Students on Tour
We've already spent our first night in Malaysia's capital and its pretty hectic to say the least and very fast! We left Melaka saturday morning after meeting an Australian dude called Robbie from Perth. Check this out for a "LOST" storyline, this guy was also 52...whats going on with the numbers, he was our very own Dell Boy! What a nice guy though he pointed us in all the right directions; cheap dinners, cheap beer, cheap sleeping as well as calling up and booking us into the China Town Inn in Kuala Lumpur where we're currently staying. This was especially handy because you get what you pay for in this city! If we'd gone too cheap here we could have potentially been in the worst place ever, worse than cell block H! He sorted us right out as this place is still not too pricey but its clean and decent so we've decided to stay here for another two nights.
After checking into our hotel, we had a knock at the door "room service"! Nope just our new mate Robbie! He took us around the area showed us where the bank was, the cheep beer, where to do laundry (cos our clothes were starting to stink)! Also he hooked us with a bus tour guide Izwaza, he sold us cheap tickets on a minibus tour of the city. Now u know what we mean by Dell Boy, he knew everyone, wheeler dealer, and he'd only been here a week before us. God knows how we ended meeting him in Melaka? We were the only people on the tour, which took 4 hours, taking us around all the main sightseeing attractions, we had are very own cheuffeur for the day. He dropped us off and waited each time we ventured to see something.
The sights were pretty amazing, we saw the Petronas Towers, pretty awesome, you can see them in the pictures. We also went up the KL tower, 3rd tallest in the world, views were far and wide. We saw the Batu Caves, a large golden hindu statue outside. U had to walk up 286 steps to this cave, it was most bizzare as there were wild monkeys running around, all over the steps, around the caves. They were right little scavengers, as Chris took a picture of one he literally turned his back and the little b****** had pickpocketed our insect repellent roll on from the side pocket of his bag. It then decided to remove the twist cap and start licking the roller ball like an ice cream!! On the way back down other tourists were laughing and taking pics of it enjoying its tasty snack! We hope it has a bad stomach soon cause our feet our bloody itching from where we've been bitten!
We also did some pretty mundane visits, the leather factory, watch factory, sarong-making factory..... oh and the best one of all, the chocolate factory, no willy wonker here though. We're off to battle through cut-throat alley now to find some munch - as outside our hotel is the main market streets, and they cover every inch of the road. With sellers prodding and poking you shouting hey cheap cheap, hey lady u want bag, awite mate want a watch....can get quite tedious but they keep trying...
