We arrived back in Perth on the Wednesday and settled back in again at Martin and Sophie's. The Thursday was Australian Day! We went to City Beach in the day. The waves were crazy they were so massive it was fun jumping in them. Later we had a BBQ back at Martin and Sophie's flat and then headed out to the river in Perth to watch the fireworks. We saw our first rain in Perth on the walk down. The fireworks were amazing, particularly as at the same time there was a big thunderstorm.
On Friday we did some job hunting and then pottered round town, before having a quiet night in. The next day we arose and headed to the Hillary's and spent the morning on Tony's boat. Learning a few more sailing techniques and seeing Dolphins swimming along side the boat again before we anchored up and had a bit of a swim. We then got some yummy chips before heading back to Perth, then round to Andy and Nicola's for another BBQ and to watch the cricket before heading back to crash out.
On Sunday 29th we all had a nice long lie in before searching for some jobs then having a lazy afternoon around the pool. The Monday was a very boring day searching and applying for jobs before a girls and boys night, the girls headed to zumba, us boys headed to the DIY shop to get some plant pot stuff for Martin's half wine barrel which he had decided to turn into a herb garden. Tuesday 31st was a long day of searching for jobs, jigsaw puzzle, food shopping, backgammon and TV. Was a bit of excitement when Rachel got a phone call asking her to come in to a café' the next day for a 3-hour try out.
Wednesday 1st February - Graeme stayed home while I went to work. When I arrived I was thrown straight in the deep end. I had to make loads of sandwiches up, then started serving customer's their lunches. It was really busy but good fun. I ended up staying there longer than planned so the woman gave me $50 for my time. I arranged that I'd call if I was interested in the job, but we decided that we'd continue on travelling and not work in the end.
The next day we headed to the Hillary's again for a coffee with Tony and to say our goodbyes as we had come to the decision to keep on travelling. We had a good old chat then headed down the coast stopping at North Beach and Cottesloe Beach before heading back to Perth for the afternoon. On the Friday we hit the gym again before having the afternoon wondered round town then a few glasses of wine in the Evening.
On Saturday 4th we headed out to John Forest National Park for the day. We walked to one of the waterfall which was completely dried up then followed the old railway line to the oldest railway tunnel in Western Australia. In the evening we had a couple of glasses of wine before headed to a few local bars and club for our last evening out with Martin and Sophie for a while. After a great night and a few to many beers and wines we managed to get to bed around 3am.
Our last day in Perth with Martin and Sophie was spent all collapsed on the sofa recovering from our hangover (obviously our drinks must have been spiked, we didn't drink that much lol).
