I went to Malaga kinda just to pass the time really. I didn't really know if there was a whole lot too see there, but I did hear it had a bit of a party town reputation. My original plan was to work towards Portugal, but between Patricia still having exams and a lot of people telling me to check out Morocco I decided that Morocco it was. I'm currently in talks with a couple on Couch Surfing about road tripping it around for a couple of weeks. There is still a few days until that goes ahead, so I thought a few days in Malaga wouldn't hurt. I stayed at a "party hostel" figuring I might as well scratch itch while I was here.
I got there on Thursday afternoon and it didn't like long before I was in the common area playing some drinking games. It was one of those hostels where the staff really encouraged everyone to sit together and more importantly drink together. It's amazing how such a small thing can shape the entire atmosphere and reputation of a hostel. At about 11pm we started the pub crawl. There's really not all that much to write about in regards to that though, nothing particularly exciting happened.
I spent Friday basically hungover though. Just chilled, played some games on my laptop and really did nothing. On Saturday I did the free walking tour. It wasn't a particularly great one. There was some stuff too see; the cathedral, and old roman theatre and a castle ruin. But the guy running it wasn't all that interesting, many of his stories were too long winded and much of the history I had already heard from the tours in Seville and Granada. We did go to a little bar afterwards which did free Paella. That wasn't bad.
That night I again did the pub crawl offered by the hostel. After all it was now Saturday night, I figured this would be a bit more lively than the Thursday night one. The group was bigger and while I did have fun, it still wasn't all that amazing. Sunday was again, hangover day. Probably the most I can say about all this was that I did kinda get it out of my system and reminded myself why I don't really do it all that often.
On Monday I was going to take a day trip to Gibraltar. But in order to get a full day there I had to catch a 7am bus which meant getting up at about 6am. That didn't end up happening. So instead I found some cheap accommodation in the Spanish town which borders Gibraltar (the accommodation in Gibraltar is either s*** or expensive). And that's where I am right now writing this. Tomorrow I will be going to Gibraltar for the day. After that, I'm not yet sure.
