Magnetic Island
After an epic journey, leaving Echuca behind at 8am, and venturing all the way from Victoria, I arrived on Magnetic Island at around 9pm. I was so tired, all I wanted to do when I got there was sleep, but I stayed up chatting in the bar which overlooked the sea. It was so strange to be sat in shorts again overlooking a beach.
The next morning after being woken up by loads of Canadians I hiked to Picnic Bay and looked around the Island a while. It was really beautiful, there were palm trees everywhere, but it was far to hot to walk around all day, so I headed down to Nelly Bay and sat in a cafe for a while, before heading back to sunbathe.
That night I stayed up chatting to some guys I met from Gemany who had both been to New Zealand, so they gave me lots of tips, and made me really excited about going. The Island, despite being lovely was relitively quiet and there wasn't much to do without having a bike or money so I cut my trip short and headed back to the mainland on the ferry the next day.
Townsville
Townsville is really pretty, although quite small. There is a really nice harbour and some excellent views of Magnetic Island but again not a great deal to do. I spent the first day in the mall, and the second day I visited the Aqarium which was so nice, especially having been to the great barrier reef, because I had already seen most of the creatures. Afterwards I walked what seemed the entire length of the city to a small beach and spent the day sunbathing. It was really beautiful and extremely hot.
